Mold + mycotoxins
Are you sick from mold illness?
The Nutrition Clinic has been a pioneer in treating mold illness since 2013 as the first in Europe.
Mycotoxins are toxins formed from the fungal family e.g. mold and candida. The main source of mycotoxin poisoning is mold from water damaged houses. If you live in an environment where mold prevails, you will inhale the spores and these will settle in the sinuses, lungs and gut and produce a steady stream of mycotoxins - detrimental to your overall health and willbeing.
Mycotoxins affect the liver, bile and kidney as well as digestion.
This creates a domino effect of health problems over time if the mold is left untreated
Mycotoxins are linked to everything from cancer, migraines, IBS, SIBO, SIFO, infertility + low spem count. They affect kidney, liver and bile function, causing brain fog, weight Loss resistance, and estrogen dominance.
To address these issues, we need to figure out the root causes. Often mycotoxins are involved and thus we need to have identified sources as well as treat the body for these toxic substances.
Furthermore, the focus should be on investigating substances that act synergistically with mycotoxins as well as optimizing mitochondrial function and repairing damaged cell membranes depending on what is needed based on the laboratory results.
treatment for mold typically takes 1 year
However, it can be more or less complicated and time-consuming, depending on what we find of imbalances and other issues as well as intensity/duration of exposure. Some are "lucky" and can get clean samples back within 6 months.
Typically, you will be recommended to be examined in one of the Gold packages to gain sufficient insight into biochemical imbalances. You can read more about the different levels of health check-ups we offer here.
Health-ups checks can be booked in the online calendar here.
If you are ONLY interested in a single laboratory test regarding whether your body is burdened by mycotoxins after mold exposure and guidance on the result, this can be booked for DKK 5550 per laboratory test incl. 30 min. consultation.
You do need to be aware that there may be several things we overlook when we do not do a proper investigation via a health-up check - e.g. if you have low folate or zinc levels, or high heavy metal levels etc. - these issues can all affect the body's ability to excrete mycotoxins optimally and respond to treatment recommendations.
If you have no symptoms, but simply want to check whether the body is burdened by mold, the latter model may be an option. If you are massively affected by symptoms, you should be properly investigated from the start, as there are often overlapping problems when you react symptomatically after mold exposure.
Christina Santini has given lectures and written several articles about mold, which can be read here.
