When we want to improve our health, we oftentimes spend all our time focusing on one aspect of our health. And this aspect may not be the one which is causing the health imbalance. This is why “test don’t guess” becomes super important - we want to know our weaknesses and also what our body nutritionally needs (protein/fats/(carbs/vitamin/minerals etc.). If we don’t know the facts, then we might be missing the boat completely. It is super unscientific to guess what will make an impact on your health.
Health is not simply “move more and eat more greens”.
Everyone know that, yet many of us who follow that basic recommendation, are not at all healthy. We struggle with abdominal fat, infertility issues, fragile bones, migraines, digestive upset whenever we are not eating bland diet foods and in worst case, we get cancer.
The key here is to understand the many factors that affect health and pin-point which are relevant for our specific situation.
We want to focus on our weakest link.
Some of us need to pay attention to what we are eating. Yet some of us think that everything can be cured if we only eat “clean enough”. So we cut out everything containing carbs (in error), believing that “sugar feeds cancer” and thinking that because carbs get broken down to glucose, this must mean all carbs will feed cancer. This is COMPLETELY none-sense. There is no science supporting the notion that natural whole-food based fruits and complex carbs drives cancer. On the contrary: there is much research which shows how these foods contain a multitude of anti-cancer compounds and also are essential for good gut health and microbiome.
Cancer cells can thrive on several different metabolic pathways - glucose being merely one.
The notion “to starve cancer” is highly misleading. We will starve ourselves to death, before we starve cancer to death. The solution is to understand what is CAUSING cancer, rather than symptom management. Because you cannot starve cancer nor candida or any other opportunistic “infection/disease” away - you can attempt to suppress it, but as long as the causative factors are still present, it will most often come back.
So let’s go through some of the major factors which are affecting people’s health today:
Nutrition - overfed but malnourished. The soil is significantly depleted in minerals today compared to a couple decades ago, which affects what we eat (nutrient density). This makes it almost impossible to not be in a state of malnourishment when it comes to basic minerals and vitamins needed for proper function. Test don’t guess what you need.
Disordered eating - many of us have a very weird relationship with food, and we trick ourselves into thinking we are healthy by following super strict rules around what we eat, never eating cake or we fast excessively. And fact is, our health may not have anything to do with whether we eat cake or not. However, because it seems easy for us to follow these rules, we feel in control. We might be telling ourselves intermittent fasting is healthy, when in fact, we are simply feeding the binge-starvation cycle present in most disordered eating patterns. This is not healthy at all. Fasting is not healthy if you are 1) suffering with adrenal fatigue 2) suffering with an eating disorder 3) suffering with blood sugar issues 4) struggling with any type of addiction. And frankly, most people today will fit into one of those categories. Fasting can be a beneficial tool, but not before your biochemistry is somewhat balanced. It’s like running a marathon on day 1, rather than putting in the training to perform a marathon without injuries. Fasting is similar to that - optimize your health before you start engaging in something that may simply be shown in reality to be practiced as “skipping meals and overeating at the end of the day” - which is super unhealthy. Have you looked at sumo wrestlers? This is how they eat to GAIN weight fast.
Movement - we sit too much and often only focus on cardio, which in itself is a stressor if overdone. Intense heavy-lifting exercise is needed for blood sugar regulation, strong bones which has a direct impact on our mental health and metabolism. Don’t do more cardio, if you are not heavy lifting - you will only add more oxidative stress and early aging into your life, by overdoing one aspect without the other.
Sleep - insomnia is an epidemic these days. Kids are getting prescribed all sorts of medication to fall asleep next to their EMF emitting smartphone and ipad. We have never seen so many kids struggle with sleep issues before, yet we refuse to look at the science showing how EMF is affecting the central nervous system, because it is out of our comfort zone. We don’t want to wire our phone and internet connection cos it is annoying, and we don’t want to tell our kids off on using their smart devices 24/7. It is inconvenient that these things affect our health and also linked to insomnia issues, so we choose to ignore the science. And I understand: it is incredibly annoying to do something about it. But unfortunately, there is no magic pill or nutrition plan that will erase the damage of too much EMF exposure. And our kids are currently paying the price while their brains are still developing. It doesn’t help to avoid gluten, if the problem is EMFs. Yet baking glutenfree bread is just so much more instagram-friendly isn’t it.
Emotional health - if we are in a toxic relationship this in itself will cause complete burn-out and affect our hormones (cortisol). Again, it doesn’t help to drink green juice all day, if your burn-out is due to emotional stress, there is no magic diet for that.
Mercury dental fillings - linked to diabetes type 2, weight-loss resistance, depression and cancer to name a few. Get them removed by a dentist specializing in safe mercury removal done through vapor control and cofferdam. And then detox mercury in your body afterwards - simply removing the fillings is not going to lower the burden already in your body.
Root canals and dental health - teeth has been shown to affect our overall health. A majority of root canals are problematic as they harbor bacteria - I highly recommend having 3D panoramic x-rays done by a holistic dentist to get insight about whether this is an issue for your health.
Contaminated drinking + shower water - pesticides and chemicals are found in our drinking water more and more these days. It doesn’t help much that we eat clean, if we are literally drinking and bathing in chemicals every day, year after year. Get a water + shower filter.
Mold housing - depending on where you live, it’s estimated that approx. 25% of houses have mold issues. in the Bible it was recommended to burn down your house if it had mold - that is how poisonous it is. Now this doesn’t make it easier - fixing our living conditions can be extremely costly and sometimes the only solution is to move out. It can be a nightmare. Yet it just doesn’t make sense to focus on what we are eating to the degree that we are scared of cake, and yet we are inhaling mold toxins every day. Mold is cancerous and linked to a host of health issues - everything from brain fog, migraines, digestive issues, infertility (both men and women) to various types of cancers, especially hormone-types and liver cancer.
PCB - if you are living in a house built before 1970ies chances are they used PCB in the paint etc. PCB is one of the most toxic chemicals and is prohibited these days. Get a professional to check your home levels and how to remediate it.
Radon - a carcinogenic and radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Get a professional specialist out to radon-proof your home if you live in an area with elevated radon levels. You can see the radon levels in the area you live by clicking here for US citizens and click here for Danish citizens.
Living too close to a cell-tower - studies are confirming the dangers of EMFs. Check how close you live to a cell tower click here for US citizens and click here for Danish citizens.
A study led by german doctors showed that there was a three-fold increase in cancer for people living closer than 1/4 of a mile (400m) to a cell tower. This risk increased when having lived close to a cell-tower for 6-10 years. These things take time - again, when we talk about “safety”, we often disregard the long-term consequences - we are told there is nothing to worry about cos short-term studies (often less than 6 months) showed no side-effects. The damage from EMF exposure typically takes many years to occur - but unfortunately we are living in a time, where we are just beginning to see the results ticking in. It is a disaster, yet most of us cannot be bothered to do anything about it, because it is out of our comfort zone. And so history repeats itself.
We refuse to use logical thinking, adhere to the precautionary principle and take note from history.
Do we not remember being taught that women and new-borns were dying at staggering rates due to postmortem bacteria infections from doctors coming straight from the mortuary over to the maternity ward? Yet the theory of bacteria was widely ridiculed back in the day, cos you couldn’t see them. Today everyone and sundry is washing and sanitizing their hands like there is no tomorrow. And do we not remember how medical doctors would promote smoking as “healthy”? Today many people won’t even go on a date with someone, if they are a smoker. And do we not remember that asbestos was widely used in housing up until the 80ies, and we were all told it was “perfectly fine in the house”, where we live and breathe, yet you could kill your mother-in law x 10 with a fraction of it (fatal lung disease). And that is exactly what happened: people died like flies for decades. We were told up until just recently that mercury fillings were safe and good to put in our mouth, where we chew and eat. We believed this, even though it is one of the most toxic compounds. Today mercury fillings have been discontinued due to toxicity.
We need to start using our own brain, rather than hanging it on the coat rack.
These things were not so difficult to see coming, but we insisted on blindly trusting the authorities and ignore all common sense - because it was an inconvenient truth. The authorities are not God, and their advice is not based on the latest tendencies in science, but on whether there is sufficient evidence to say that something is definitive causative. And that is very difficult science-wise to conclude. It takes decades most often. In the interim, being cautious and using our common sense is our best option. It is not like they are going to come out with a study saying it’s a bad idea to eat knives i.e. - yet none of us, would do that. Well, we might think about using that same brain for other aspects, that’s the whole point of having a brain, which is a pain. Less brains, less pains, someone said, and in this day and age, there is obviously truth to that, unfortunately.
