n a German study, doctors examined close to 1,000 patients to see if those who lived close to a cell-tower for 10 years had an increased risk of cancer. The social and age differences within the study group were insignificant. They found that the proportion of newly developed cancer cases was three times higher for those living within 400 meters (approx 1300feet) of a cell-tower compared to those living further away. In addition, they found that patients on average became ill with cancer 8 years earlier. To live more than 400 meters away from a cell-tower is particularly important. This is because computer simulation and measurements used in the study showed that the radiation at that distance or less (the "inner region") is 100 times greater than the emissions beyond this distance ("the outer region"). Another important observation from the research is that the first 5 years one lived near a cell-tower, the risk was no different than one living far away from one. However, after 6-10 years the cancer risk jumped threefold for those who lived less than 400 meters from a cell-tower. Even more worrying: the average age of diagnosis was much younger. The risk of breast, prostate, pancreatic, intestinal, melanoma, lung and blood cancer increases significantly.
Read More12 major things that affect your health today (and it's not gluten or cake)
When we want to improve our health, we oftentimes spend all our time focusing on one aspect of our health. And this aspect may not be the one which is causing the health imbalance. This is why “test don’t guess” becomes super important - we want to know our weaknesses and also what our body nutritionally needs (protein/fats/(carbs/vitamin/minerals etc.). If we don’t know the facts, then we might be missing the boat completely. It is super unscientific to guess what will make an impact on our health. Health is not simply “move more and eat more greens”. Everyone knows that, yet many of us who follow that basic recommendation, are not at all healthy. We struggle with abdominal fat, infertility issues, fragile bones, migraines, digestive upset whenever we are not eating bland diet foods and in worst case, we get cancer. The key here is to understand the many different factors today that affect health and pin-point which are relevant for our specific situation. We want to focus on our weakest link. Quite often that has nothing to do with eating glutenfree or skipping cake.
Read MoreAre vegetarians more at risk for mental disorders/depression/anxiety?
“Conclusion: Vegetarian men have more depressive symptoms after adjustment for socio-demographic factors. Nutritional deficiencies (e.g. in cobalamin or iron) are a possible explanation for these findings, however reverse causation cannot be ruled out.” There has been a lot of studies on health benefits of vegan/vegetarian diets - both pro and con. Some show improved health aspects and some do not. Many of the health benefits are likely associated with simply choosing whole foods over processed foods and not exclusion of meat. Otherwise there would be no case for the carnivore diet which is currently trending.

Read MoreNew research shows promise for detoxing mercury
Mercury is still one of the heavy metals that takes a long time to detoxify with the remedies we know today - that is, if we want to do it safely and not risk redistributing it around our body and brain. Redistribution is a major concern with some of the methods widely used today i.e. DMPS and DMSA along with taking chlorella alone (must always be taken with another thiol-containing substance such as cilantro, as it is not stable for detox purposes taken alone). Important to be aware that approx. 30% of people can't tolerate chlorella very well, which might be due to optimized function of the enzyme cellulase. If you are unable to tolerate chlorella, one might consider adding an enzyme with cellulase in it to help digest the chlorella. Recently more and more studies with chitosan, however, seem to show that this substance may be more effective for mercury. On a sidenote: I will be in Los Angeles March + April, where I can be booked for talks, workshops etc. Check out examples of some of the previous talks I’ve done by clicking right here >>
Read MoreMold - the hidden health threat in your home
Did you know that something as simple as mold is linked to migraines, "fog brain", depression, digestive disorders, skin ulcers, sinusitis, cancer, estrogen dominance, joint pain and weight problems?
Yes, the symptoms (1,2,3,4,5,6) range widely and which we develop depends on our genetic dispositions and other biochemical imbalances in the body. Recently, an article was written in a Danish newspaper outlet about a case involving a woman who had even lost sight due to mold. And in spite of that, we cannot get tested for these things covered via the public healthcare system which we have paid more than our fair share of taxes towards. So much for socialist wellfare system. No wonder we have so many so-called "chronic disorders" when we do not offer testing to investigate possible toxins involved in these disorders. Our health care system status quo is very unscientific quite frankly.
Read MoreWhat hormone issues, weight gain, digestive issues and mental health have in common.
I can’t stand the word detox frankly. Yet I use it more than any other word in my practice these days. It is one of the core things I do today, because the lab testing I do is repeatedly showing that most issues you guys are coming in with are due to blockages in the system due to various accumulated toxins. Most symptoms can be traced back to different toxins that are interfering with the body’s ability to function and repair normally. Sidenote: For those of you who were at my talk in Øksnehallen in Copenhagen Sunday 30th of September I am attaching handouts for the talk as promised - click here to download the notes (DANISH only).
Read MoreWhat should your vitamin D level be for optimal health?
There is a lot of confusion these days about vitamin D. Some advice on extreme levels while others advice just a pinch more than where we see bones falling apart. As with most things the real answer is found in the middle - oh man, no not the middle - the middle is so boring, you might say, but hey, that is only cos you are a dopamine addict like the rest of us hanging on to our phones like heroin addicts. Yeah enough of that. Sustainability is often found in the middle ground and so it is here as well. On one side we have the totally outdated advice of just making sure we are over approximately 50 nmol/L (20 ng/mL). This advice is setting the bar so low that we are just not developing obvious symptoms of vitamin D deficiency like osteoporosis.
Read MoreLow-fat diets age us faster
One of the most typical things I see on the lab testing I do is mitochondrial dysfunction. Now if your last biology class was decades ago, this might seem a bit iffy to you. So here is the deal on our mitochondria in short: our mitochondria power the biochemical reactions in our cells. When our mitochondria are not functioning at their peak, we feel tired, lethargic and age quicker.
Read MoreAntidepressants and brain tumors
People with brain tumors should be selective about antidepressants. There is a chemical made in the brain called glial cell-line derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF). GDNF is mainly responsible for repair of neurons after injury. However, the problem is that it also helps brain tumor cells survive. It also helps tumor cells migrate and invade surrounding brain tissue.
